1940s obsession

I just found a 1947 Montgomery Ward catalog with over 1000 pages. Look at those bathing suits. I am a little obsessed with the clothing from that era. I have been searching for a vintage 40s sewing pattern to try. The clothing from the 40s I feel I could even wear today with out sticking out so much as the clothing from the 50s. Here is one pattern I have been stalking. ( I wish I had her tiny hips)

a few vintage clutches

1940s pattern I found. I followed the pattern w/o altering it yet. I usually always have to modify the pattern but this one just seems perfect. I wondered if the flap might need to be longer but keep going back to it is perfect. I have been a little obsessed with the denim, which I used on the 40s pattern bag below. I have 4 more in line to make with the denim. The funnest part was having to buy vintage gloves to take the pic. I wish I could wear them daily with my clutch.

Here is a Lydia clutch made from some of the vintage fabric I found at the thrift store.

I have been working away on these new little clutches. I have been really trying to use fabrics I am really drawn too. I might try a few with some vintage fabric I have been collecting:)

Spinning Wheels

60s purse
70s purse

Lately, I have felt like I am spinning my wheels. This week I finally feel like I have accomplished something. I have been working on this 70s purse. I made the one in the pic a few weeks ago and have almost 2 more complete:)

Also, I decided to rework my 60s purse. I wanted it a little smaller. What do you think? I have made 4 this week. (one for me)

Vintage Finds and Photos

Above is just on sample of the vintage fabric I found at the thrift store.... I am almost afraid to cut it. What if I mess it up...It is so cool.
I had my sis (a professional photographer) take this pic. Wow, what a difference a proffesional photo makes... I wish I could pay her to take all my photos:)

60s design

I've been working on a new design. I am using a Keyka Lou pattern and modifying it to a picture I have of a 1960s purse. I have my first one finished. I think I love it... Any feedback is appreciated.... I am wearing my slouch around the house cleaning clothes but am so lazy I wouldn't change for the pic....So, I am hoping the purse is so beautiful that the surroundings are not even noticable:)

1972 on its way

OOOOH... A 1972 Spencers catalog coming my way. I love these old catalogs. I already have a 1969 Sears one that I think I have memorized by now..So, I was in need of a new one:) Look at that bed spread....I wish I could really order items out this catalog...I would take the pants in the upper right corner ... I always have been soooo stylish....Ha Ha

Lima Bean Diarrhea

My daughter and I love lima beans. I have been wanting to make this lime bean loaf recipe for awhile now. I thought it would look great, like a meatloaf but limaloaf. ....but it turned out more like lima mush...It tastes great but try and get a 3 year old to eat something that looks like diarrhea....Not going to happen...
I have loved having a few days off of sewing. Infact, I have been wanting to sew a little but am holding myself back...until after xmas.
I hope all of you have better food than we do today:)

Wowzers

I can't believe it's been this long since I last posted. I have been so busy with holiday sales...I sometimes wonder if it's worth it. I closed my shop for a few weeks to get caught up and do some of my fun projects.... I really want everything made in my shop out of love not necessity.. I also have been wanting to make some resin jewelry for friends for xmas...
